So unless you have been backpacking throughout a foreign, faraway land or have been hiding under a rock, you likely know that the Oscars were on last night, or in other words, the fashion Olympics. There were high moments and low moments throughout the evening (high moment: Cate Blanchett winning for her stunning performance in Blue Jasmine, low moment: Leonardo Dicaprio making it through the entire evening without a Oscar. How?!) but the fashion throughout the evening was all around stunning. All A-listers were dressed to kill and while there were a few looks that we weren’t crazy about (Julia Roberts), there were too many to count that we fell in love with. Here are our top five favorites!
1. Lupita Nyong’o in Prada
We don’t know whether its the beautiful aquamarine colour (which pops against Lupita’s stunning skin) or the simple cut of this a-line dress, but Lupita was the belle of the ball in this Cinderella throw-back dress.
2. Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive
The only thing that stunned more than Cate Blanchett’s performance in Blue Jasmine was her nude, floral dress from Armani Prive. The perfect blend of sexy and subdued, we love how the beautiful peachy hue of the dress works with the ultra-modest neck and hem-line of the dress.
3. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
Jennifer Lawrence is a knockout obviously. There is nothing like a red dress to get people’s heads turning and this siren did just that in this Dior gown.
4. Emma Watson in Vera Wang
We have to admit, as far as we are concerned, Emma Watson can do no wrong. With her delicate brand of beauty and sophisticated sense of style, there could be no wonder why Emma is known as a fashion icon and is a muse to the likes of Karl Lagerfeld. Once again, she hit it out of the park with this shimmery, elegant black and charcoal dress by Vera Wang.
5. Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab
Gorgeous as always, Angelina Jolie looked radiant in Elie Saab Haute Couture. From the embroidery to the dusty blush colour, and Bau Haus-esque beading, Angelina was mesmerizing. She accessorized well with a dapper looking Brad Pitt on her arm (as much as we love Bohemian styles and sensibilities, we are happy to see his long hair and beard go).
