Indiverve’s Fall Five

It’s almost that time of year again. Summer’s long blissful sunny days shorten and adopt a brisk chill. The streets get busier and traffic becomes even more headache inducing as everyone that had abandoned the city for their vacation getaway comes traipsing back with a tanned, perky vengeance. Necklines get higher and hem-lines get lower, fabrics get thicker, layers increase and shoes provide more coverage – goodbye sandals, hello unpractical dove grey suede booties. Yes, the end of summer is always a bittersweet time. Late August should in fact be considered a season of its own called “Coming-back-to-reality-ember”.  Summer’s fantasies come to an abrupt end and we are forced to trade in our lazy-daisy attitudes for our organized, practical, work-friendly alter-egos.

It’s not all grey skies though (figuratively or literally)! Not only is it the time when the once green leaves blush crimson and coffee shops start making their Fall inspired beverages (pumpkin spice chai anyone?) but  Autumn is also the time to bust out those cozy cardigans, printed silk scarves, sexy patterned tights and boots. How we love the boots.

Love: Lace Scarves

Scarves may be a small accessory but they’re a fantastic way to add some instant style to an outfit. With so many creative ways to wear them, you must admit, scarves are an extremely versatile item which should pretty much be a staple item in your closet. Plus, if you get the appropriate material, scarves can keep you warm during the cold winter months, adding a ton of style sophistication at the same time!

We’re all about lace scarves this fall. We have them available in pretty soft pastel colours, neutral brown and grey shades, and in vivid colours like blue and yellow. They’re 100% linen and measure 72″ x 24″. Pictured are just some of our favourite colours for this season.

The lace patches add a pretty and elegant touch to your overall look. They look fantastic when paired with denim or leather which creates an edgy, yet feminine look. Or glam up a plain t-shirt or long sleeved top by tying a scarf around your neck or simply letting it drape freely around your shoulders.

Fun Ways to Wear Your Favourite Scarves

Keeping in line with spring 2012’s plethora of bold colours and prints, we showcase some of our favourite looks that we put together recently at our very first fashion photo shoot using our collection of scarves. It was a lot of fun coming up with these looks together with the limited time we had that day.

Get creative with your scarves and as the weather warms up, consider wearing one as a top, as a  dress (if you’re petite it will be even easier for you), or as a skirt where you could tie it sarong style or wrap it as a mini skirt. All you need are safety pins to fasten the scarf securely after wrapping it around your body in your chosen style. We mostly used scarves that measured 30 x 70 inches.

These outfits pictured are proof that scarves aren’t limited to only being worn around your neck or as a bathing suit cover up. We encourage getting creative and wearing them in fun and different ways!

Here, we used one scarf as a tube top, one as a skirt with leggings, and completed the look with a beaded statement necklace in copper.

The same scarves were used for this look but we added another pink patterned scarf worn as a shawl.

For this look we used our lace, tie dyed scarf as a one-shoulder top with jeans, plus we draped another scarf around the model’s arms.

Here’s the same tie dyed scarf is simply worn as a shawl over a plain black tank top with jeans.

We draped our paisley printed turquoise scarf as a one shoulder dress and added chunky jewelry to this look.

We used just one striped scarf as a sleeveless dress with skinny jeans and then tied another scarf as a belt for this look.
