Five Date-Friendly Looks for Valentines Day

As if anyone needs any reminding of this fact, but Valentines Day is just around the corner. It’s not as if this is something we need to tell any of you, after all the overzealous abundance of red, pink, sequins, hearts and stuffed animals sends this message across loud and clear. Whether you are planning on spending the night out with your girlfriends or have something planned with your significant other, we have selected five Valentines Day perfect outfits (without any hearts or clichés).
Outfit1

The little-black-dress is a classic, and for good reason. It’s effortlessly elegant, it goes with everything, it can be dressed up or down like lickity, and it has a way of making your figure look its best. Since our tunic dress has a little bit of embellishment at the neckline, it is best to keep accessories to a minimum. Our silver paisley pendant would look stunning on a 30″ chain, lengthening the body in a flattering way. Our hand-crafted agate ring adds a punchy pop of fuchsia to an otherwise subdued palette of black and silver.

Outfit2

We swear, black and turquoise were made for each other. They are a visual match made in heaven. We love the way that our silver and turquoise pendant pops against our Edwardian-esque black lace dress. The look is elegant while being low-key enough for a more casual dinner or cocktails with the ladies. Pair with sheer tights, our metallic leather belt and our turquoise cocktail ring for a look that is refined yet playful.

Outfit3

We know, we know, the floral print on our ruffled dress absolutely scream romance and Valentines Day. To keep this look from being overtly girly, we’ve added our crochet belt in mahogany, our carved copper hints cuff, and an edgy tiger’s eye ring. It’s undeniably feminine, but with our signature bohemian vibe.

Outfit4

For a more casual evening, our chiffon poncho in rose is an ultra-chic layering piece over a simple tank top. We chose equally feminine accessories in a muted palette. Our intricately carved silver cuff, tear-drop amethyst cluster pendant, and beaded silver earrings add a timeless beauty to this otherwise casual look.

Outfit5

As far as we are concerned, there is no colour combination that is sexier or more glamorous than black and gold. Our shimmery, burn-out printed black and gold tunic is a head-turner all on its own. Throw on our woven metal necklace, threaded gold floral earrings, and black and gold studded bangles (loved by Coco and Vera’s Cee Fardoe) and you will have a look that would make Beyoncé blush.

Street-wise Sunday | Vintage Vixens

There was a time when the trends of what we wear were dictated by the runways of high-profile cities. Prestigious couturiers acted as dictators of the fashion world, selecting the colors, fabrics, and shapes that were to be adored and then abhorred as the seasons came and went. With the extreme accessibility and interconnection of the modern world, fashion is no longer inspired by any one thing and one could argue that we are often more influenced by the fashions we see on the streets than we are by what we see during fashion week or in the windows of stores such as Holt Renfrew or Bergdorf Goodman (depending where you live).

We have always been inspired by the streets. The streets are where the culture of a city is the strongest. People living their lives in clothing that fits their unique selves and situations is infinitely more interesting than a handful of different ideas dreamed up by more or less the same designers every season. Coco Chanel said it best when she said “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street. Fashion has to do with the way we live, what is happening.” What is happening in fashion is a revolution of how ideas are transmitted and shared. What used to be single-stream of ideas is now a intricate web and that is something that we are grateful for. Playing tribute to the fashions of the street we have selected seven vintage-inspired looks that left us feeling intrigued.

Indiverve Restyled | Ashley Tisdale

Maxi-dresses seemed to be reserved by most people for the spring and summer. We argue that they can be fabulous for any season (even wet and icy winter) when accessorized appropriately. We love Ashley Tisdale’s casual yet effortlessly chic look. With an all neutral palette of slate, taupe, black and silver, she keeps her look dynamic and subtly striking with sequins, a structured jacket and layered pendants.

What’s our take on Miss Tisdale’s understated ensemble?

We would pair either our charcoal grey (for a more subdued look) or leopard print maxi-dress with our silver paisley and turquoise pendants (one a longer 30” chain and the other on a shorter 20” chain) to recreate Ashley’s outfit with our innate bohemian flare.

Emerald Green for 2013

Spring 2013’s colours, named by Pantone, feature some lovely cheery and soothing colours. Expect to see lots of blues and greens, flirty soft pink and lilac, nectarine (which is a little softer than last year’s tangerine tango), and bright poppy red. Bright colours haven’t gone anywhere yet within the fashion world. While almost any shade of green is hot right now, emerald green has been named the colour for 2013.

Green promotes harmony and balance which is useful for all of us with our busy daily lives. The best thing about green is that it complements pretty much every complexion from blonde to brunette to red heads. A versatile colour, emerald green will be popular going into the fall and winter season as well. The jewel tone is a sophisticated and classic colour with a certain richness and royalty to it. Wear it as clothing, or accessories to stay trendy while playing with a pop of colour.

The dainty lace details in this dress are very alluring!

Made of soft cotton and viscose material, the Lace Ruffle Dress in Black is both sweet and a little bit sultry. Its also the perfect stylish dress for the holidays from Christmas parties to glammed up New Year’s eve celebrations. Pretty in Pink

Pink is the most feminine of colours. Feel pretty in pink while conveying warmth and compassion when wearing this attention grabbing shade. We adore pink on jewelry and accessories for a sweet pop of colour and bright burst of energy. Pairing pink with black is always a winner- think pink when styling your little black dress. We also love it with clean, crisp white or rich chocolate brown. Another bright idea is pairing pink with a lighter or lime green. Sounds like an odd combination but it looks refreshing together.

Pink is glamourous when paired with gold accents like our Colour Block Bangle in Pink and Chandelier Earrings in Fuchsia Stones in a deeper  hue. It also looks divine with silver accents subtley in our Wooden Boho Necklace in Fuchsia and Pink Stone Cocktail Ring crafted with a vintage twist. Add a pop of cotton candy pink over a simple outfit for instant style with our Lace Scarf in Pink Patches.

Metallic Fashion Inspiration

A metallic touch will give everyday outfits a futuristic feel. Gold, silver, copper and bronze toned pieces create richness and elegance while putting a fresh spin on more timeless looks. Incorporate the look into your wardrobe with shiny solid colours and detailed embellishments on your clothing, jewelry and accessories! metallic jewelry and accessories

We love this trend for fall and winter 2012 and hope it sticks around. These shiny pieces are perfect for the holiday season for those extra special soirees when we all welcome a little extra sheen. Here’s a few ideas on how to wear metallics:

  • Pair metallics with neutral colours. For example, a metallic silver skirt with a nude coloured blouse looks tres chic!
  • Add chunky metallic jewelry to your little black dress or little white dress (our favourite!)
  • Wear clothing with tiny metallic details like embellishments around the neckline in the form of sequins and other shiny touches.
  • Try leather jewelry and accessories with silver studs for an edgy and trendy look.
  • If all else fails, paint your nails in a shiny silver, gold or copper shade- always a winner and safe bet for those afraid to go overboard on this trend. Same goes for using a metallic eye shadow to complete your look.
